Sorry, but who wants intentionally boring copy?
Wanna see my body?
Body of work, I mean. Get your head out of the gutter.
Different Flavors of Funny
Delight delivered! For my own company, Paramount Pet Health, I want every touchpoint to be unexpectedly cute and joyful. (It’s OK to lean on TikTok for that sometimes.)
Podcast production agency Lower Street wanted to make it clear that their services are several cuts above just sending your raw audio to some basement-dwelling amateur editor. This friendly, earnest, self-deprecating (but not too much) homepage positions Lower Street as THE choice for businesses that want to grow through podcasting.
For Loop Returns’ step-by-step return demo (part of a full-site copy revamp), clarity was key. Doubling the “d” sound brought some zing to this short interstitial copy.
Aping Corey Quinn’s acidic wit is a high bar, so I was pleased to be asked back to write the Duckbill Group’s charity fundraising email series for the third year in a row. Alongside other channels and outreach efforts, my emails helped raise over $30,000 for the youth writing nonprofit 826 National.
This unusually-punchy-for-an-ISP ad was used as a physical billboard and in Meta ad placements. It was part of YKC’s 2022 campaign, “It’s Not Your Fault,” which I concepted and wrote.
“Yeah, it’s a weird name.” It’s the first thing people say about Baby Bathwater, so we needed it on this event application landing page. The rest of the page copy (and the highly effective event invitation email series) was inspired by the cofounders’ zest for daily adventures, real human connections, and just a sprinkle of Hunter S. Thompson.
I cannot possibly have been the first person to come up with this phrase (which still makes me titter) but Kulin was the first agency brave enough to publish it. Kudos, Kulin.
Any CEO who lets me make a Spoonerism out of his name is A-OK by me.
Bet you didn’t expect it to go there, did you?
Hire me to write things like this, you cowards.
I promise I wrote this before Everything Everywhere All At Once came out. Even so, my favorite part of this email blurb for my ongoing work with ProductHype is the linguistically satisfying repetition of the sounds in “hot dogs” and “top legs”. (NERD ALERT.)
“She’s fast, funny, and provided a ton of value.”
Lianna is great to work with. We were looking for something outside the corporate cookie-cutter jargon and Lianna delivered top notch work that will help us stand out from the crowd. Her work is fast, funny, and has provided a ton of value to our company. 10/10, highly recommend, would do again.
